Frequently Asked Questions

Where does Lila B. Design source its plants and flowers?

At Lila B. Design, we value sourcing our plants and floral carefully.  Sometimes that means growing them ourselves.  In San Francisco, we grow flowers, greens, fruits, and vegetables in our city garden for our own custom designs.

In addition to our own growing grounds, we are fortunate to source plants and flowers from a variety of talented local growers in the Bay Area and beyond offering year-round choices. Of course, we do sometimes use flowers and plants that are flown in from far parts of the world, as their color and beauty are hard to resist, but we stay local and even ‘city grown’ whenever possible.

How can I contact Lila B. Design?

Email hello@lilabdesign.com or call (415) 563-6681. You may also follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter.

Are you open?

If you’re on your way here for something special, it is best to give us a quick ring first: 415 563 6681. We want to make sure we are available to assist you! We’re a small business and often out in our very own garden but also out on site. Good news ‘tho: Our garden within Stable Cafe’s courtyard is open to the public when they are open (7 days a week until 4 pm).

Do you deliver?

Yes! With advance notice, we are happy to create and deliver lovely living arrangements.

Do you make cut floral arrangments?

We focus in on planted plants – and the beauty our living arrangements match any cut floral arrangement.

How far in advance do I need to book your services?

Our garden consults, botanical styling sessions, and other services – are by appointment and can be scheduled same day – to a year out.

We take reservations for events up to one year in advance, but we can also work with as little as two weeks. And if there’s a free day in our schedule, we are happy to help on even shorter notice. We understand last-minute events come up, and we will make them special.

Why do you work on both outdoor container gardens and indoor plant arrangements?

While earning a certificate in garden design from the University of California, Berkeley, Extension and spending many years gardening outdoors, Lila B. Design founder Baylor Chapman discovered a love for creating miniature gardenscapes, or dynamic arrangements of plants and flowers — and this love is independent of location. Thus, Lila B. Design’s dual focus.

What does it mean to be a certified San Francisco Green Business?

This means we have been awarded by the city of San Francisco for conserving resources and preventing pollution while working to create a more sustainable San Francisco.

Who do we appreciate? So many! Too many to list here but here are a few colleagues and clients who have been indispensable to Lila B. – to them we give a special thanks.
